While reading 'Storyworthy' by Matthew Dicks I became intrigued by storytelling.

Yuval Noah Harari seduces with his storytelling, "but a close look at his record shows that he sacrifices science to sensationalism, often makes grave factual errors, and portrays what should be speculative as certain."

"most dangerous of all, he reinforces the narratives of surveillance capitalists, giving them a free pass to manipulate our behaviors to suit their commercial interests."

Oh yes, a new episode of my favourite podcast, about a topic I find very, very intriguing:

The Art of Manliness: Building a Second Brain

Website: aom.is/secondbrain

Media file: stitcher.simplecastaudio.com/1

I am using for about a year and a half now and so far it is amazing for me.

Off topic: I listen my podcasts on , the only sad thing is that they don't have ActivityPub support yet (:
@AntennaPod , is that one the roadmap by any chance?

“…only in the middle of the twentieth century did the inhabitants of many European countries come to understand, usually by way of suffering, that complex and difficult philosophy books have a direct influence on their fate.”

"One may dye their hair green and wear their grandma's coat all they want. Capital has the ability to subsume all critiques into itself. Even those who would *critique* capital end up *reinforcing* it instead..."

Everything is a Remix.
Without the legal ability to make use of our culture, it will stagnate.

A 17th century witchfinder general was probably not an idiot.
They might have been among the more learned men of their generation.
Yet still, they were so disastrously misguided.
How many in the witch trials truly believed they were in the right?
How can we know we are not misguided without resorting to dogmatism, tradition or contrarianism?

...Her best friend realized that something disconcerting was happening, investigated, and learned the truth: "That is not love," she warned. "That's rape" The internet is a bit like this. It knows much about us, but interacts with us without revealing that this is so. It makes us unfree by arousing our worst tribal impulses and placing them at the service of unseen others."

"In 1976, Stephen King published a short story, "I Know What You Need," about the courting of a young woman. Her suitor was a young man who could read her mind but did not tell her so. He simply appeared with what she wanted at the moment, beginning with strawberry ice cream for a study break. Step by step he changed her life, making her dependent upon him by giving her what she thought she wanted at a certain moment, before she herself had a chance to reflect. ...

Markets are self-annihilating.

Suppliers want the best price for their goods, but markets might force them to be in competition with eachother.

Models, studies and real world analyses show that cartel-formation is natural and can happen even without explicit contracts between suppliers.

Suppliers are able to slowly hike their price above one another if their sales are comparable.

Left to its own devices, a market destroys itself.

Bourgeois Liberal @BourgouiseLiberal

Markets exist because it is thought that it is an answer to a political question: how to efficiently allocate resources.

There is talk of market worship when one defends the market not because it's an answer to a problem, but because they desire the market for its own sake.
